Why Is ADCS Essential for Modern Satellites?

ADCS is responsible for determining the spacecraft’s attitude in space and controlling the satellite’s orientation, ensuring that onboard instruments, antennas, and payloads can accurately point toward their targets. Without ADCS, satellites would not be able to maintain stable attitudes, perform high-precision observations, or complete many critical space missions.

ADCS stands for Attitude Determination and Control System. It is responsible for measuring, calculating, and controlling the satellite’s attitude relative to a reference frame. A complete ADCS system usually consists of three main components:
